The Lakers are one of the NBA team in the American continent and is quite well known in the world.
LA Lakers an NBA team based in Los Angeles, California. The Lakers play their home games at Staples Center, the arena which is also the home one of their rivals in the NBA, the Los Angeles Clippers and also the WNBA team, the Los Angeles Sparks. The Lakers are the team's NBA title holders currently in the final after defeating the Orlando Magic last with the final status of 4-1.

Lakers stand the first time in 1946 in Detroit, Michigan before moving to Minneapolis. In this Minneapolis Lakers team got its name in accordance with the state's nickname "Land of 10,000 Lakes" [land 10,000 lakes]. So literally, the Lakers means the people of the lake [Lake = lake, english]. The Lakers won five championships before relocating to Los Angeles in the 1960-61 season. The Lakers had appeared eight times in the final decade of the NBA during the 60's but it all ended in defeat despite having legendary players like Jerry West and Elgin Baylor. In 1972, the Lakers won their sixth title under the tutelage of coach Bill Sharman. The Lakers also holds the record for most consecutive wins of all time with 33 consecutive victories in the 1971-72 season.

As of 14 players who entered in the register HALL OF FAME have been playing for the Lakers, while four coaches HALL OF FAME also has coached the Lakers, they are: John Kundla, Bill Sharman, Pat Riley and Phil Jackson. Four Lakers player [Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant] has won the NBA Most Valuable Player [MVP] which in total amounted to eight.

HISTORY Lakers

1946-1959: The Beginning and the Dynasty Minneapolis

Lakers was established in 1946 when Ben Berger and Morris Chalfen bought the Detroit Gems team who played in the National Basketball League competition [NBL] seharaga $ 15,000. The team moved to Minneapolis in the spring of 1947. Lakers who already have a solid team with players such as Jim Pollard and regulatory game, Herm Schaefer, added a player center George Mikan, who quickly became a dominant player.

In the 1951-52 season the Lakers beat the New York Knicks in the NBA final in seven games. 1959-1974: The move to Los Angeles and awakening rivalry with Celtics

Jerry West brought the Lakers appeared nine times in the final decade of the NBA during the 60's and 70's.

On July 9, 1968, the Lakers get the Wilt Chamberlain of the Philadelphia 76ers players through an exchange transaction. Lakers again met the Celtics in the NBA final in 1969, and for the first time the Lakers get home court advantage throughout the history of their meeting in the finals against the Celtics. But that does not mean much when they lost in seven games back. Jerry West became the first player awarded a finals MVP as well as the first and last of the losing team to receive a similar award.

In 1970, the Lakers returned to the show at the party and the NBA finals for the first time they do not have to face the Celtics; but they eventually lost 3-4 over the New York Knicks. The following season they suffered defeat in the conference finals against the Milwaukee Bucks, led by Lew Alcindor which will be better known as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

In the 1971-72 season, the Lakers owner, Jack Kent Cooke, hired Bill Sharman to become the new coach and Elgin Baylor decided to retire early in the season. But the team was actually able to win 14 consecutive games during the month of November and 16 consecutive games in December. The Lakers added three victories after the turn of the year before it was stopped by the Milwaukee Bucks with the numbers 120-104. With a record 33 consecutive victories, the Lakers became the team's first American professional sports that has the record for longest winning streak in history. The team also scored a record 69 regular season victories, the second best after the Chicago Bulls scored 72 victories in the 1995-96 season.

Wilt Chamberlain scored a record peraihan lowest figure during his career that season [14.8 ppg] but he led in rebounds peraihan list [19.2 ppg] while Jerry West led the list peraihan assists [9.7 apg] and scored more than 25 ppg. At the end of that season, Bill Sharman was named coach of the year. Lakers finally advanced to the finals and managed to avenge them on the New York Knicks in five games, and bring the first NBA title to Los Angeles.


In the 1972-73 season, the Lakers are still able to win the Pacific Division with 60 regular games wins. The Lakers advanced to the finals and met again the New York Knicks in the final, this time the Knicks managed to beat them in five games after the Lakers win by three points in the first games. Wilt Chamberlain retired at the end of the season, while the Lakers next season suffered a large loss after Jerry West is only able to play in 31 games. Gail Goodrich who scored 25.5 ppg on the season helped the team get up at the end of the season, they drove up to the region semifinals, but could only pick one victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. At the end of the season, Jerry West retired after 14 years playing in the NBA.
